Mission in the Mix

Forming Intercultural Churches at Home and Abroad

Ascension Church New HavenThe primary ministry of CMS is the placement of missionary teams for the development of intercultural churches. CMS works by the invitation of a local bishop, either to plant an intercultural congregation in a mixed community or to assist an existing church in making a transition from mono-cultural to intercultural.

The teams themselves are ethnically diverse in order to model intercultural fellowship on-site. The specific role of an individual missionary is determined by his or her gifts or vocation and the needs of the ministry. Some may work on a church staff. Others may work day-to-day outside the church.

CMS is dedicated to equipping the church for obedience to Jesus' command to make his disciples among all peoples. We will begin our ministry in the United States where the ethnic diversification is a characteristic of many cities and towns. Within five years, CMS hopes to begin actively seeking sites for placement of missionaries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.
